My favorite bags, the color orange and a touch of Hermes..

As I told you in a previous post – my wardrobe consists of a lot of beige…

So to brighten up this color I bought a pair of orange jeans from Lindex at the very affordable price 199 NOK ($35). I’ve had the scarf from Hermes for quite a while and voila – a new look 🙂

The color of the jeans is most alike picture number 2. It’s fun to edit the pictures and give the a little vintage look.

Proenza Schouler bags/accessories now and then..

Proenza Schouler is a quite young brand compared to for example  Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Hermes, but PS has already planted their roots very well in the fashion world. They’re here to stay…

Proenza Schouler wallet from 2009 - price $165

Here is a picture of a PS wallet that was one of the first items Proenza Schouler sold on their web site.

And this is what they look like today. I saw the other one at the online shop as well, but it was sold out.

This is the PS1 leather pochette or by the size it – more of a day to night clutch

I borrowed this picture from the purseblog because it easily shows what the bag from PS1 (I think it must be the large one this) is like compared to the very familiar (to most of us) Mulberry Alexa.

Here is the PS1 medium in bright red – sigh… One of my favorites!

This is definitely a favorite – PS11 in Kelly Green!

And last – but not least – two bright red ones…..

Proenza Schouler’s V-Day collection

The conclusion on this post must be that the bags have not changed a lot, but there has been some new bags along the way of course. Some seasonal and some that stays.

The history of Proenza Schouler

I really enjoy knowing some facts behind the bags that I love so much. Who are the designers, what inspires them and what was the history of how the brand came to life – if you can put it that way. I found the facts in this post in

Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez

Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez

These two handsome guys, both born in 1978, are the geniuses behind Proenza Schouler. But their not only designing bags – in 2011 they were nominated for Womenswear designer of the year and Accessory designer of the year. They ended up winning the Womenswar designer of the year. Well deserved!!

They met each other for the first time in 1999, aged 21, to pursue fashion at Parsons School of Design in New York and they instantly hit it off.

Hernandez passes a napkin note to fellow airplane passenger Anna Wintour; she helps him land an internship with Michael Kors. McCollough goes to work for Marc Jacobs.

May: The two graduate from Parsons with Designer of the Year honors. On a tip, Julie Gilhart of Barneys New York invites them to show her their joint senior collection; she snaps up the entire lot. With backing from a German investor, Proenza Schouler is born in their Chinatown loft; the new company is named after their mothers’ maiden names.  June: The new stars are featured in the Future of Fashion segment of the CFDA’s 40th anniversary awards gala.

February: The collection debuts at New York Fashion Week, in the National Arts Club building on Gramercy Park. June: Proenza Schouler wins the Swarovski/Perry Ellis Award for Ready-to-Wear and the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award. November: Barneys commissions a dress for Sex and the City character Charlotte York.

Proenza Schouler nominated for CFDA’s Womenswear Designer of the Year.

2008 June: The label is nominated for CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year. December: Launches PS1 handbag line, named for the New York City public school system and inspired by the traditional school satchel. “This is the anti-It-bag,” Hernandez tells Vogue.“It bags sometimes lack a certain subtleness,” adds McCollough.

Proenza Schouler wins CFDA Accessory Designer of the Year. Makes its European debut at Florence’s Villa La Petraia, as featured guest of Pitti W. December: E-commerce store launched, offering Web-exclusive accessories.

June: Proenza Schouler nominated for CFDA Accessory Designer of the Year and the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award.

I’ve been wondering many times about the pronunciation of Proenza Schouler and then I found this article with an interviuw at Fashionologie;

There’s been many arguments over the correct pronunciation of Proenza Schouler, and in the March 2011 issue of Interview, Lazaro Hernandez admits of the name, «I actually regret it.» Jack McCollough agrees: «Yeah. One of our biggest regrets is the name of our company. It’s like alphabet soup. There are so many letters. Even coming up with a font was a mission. We had to do these fine, little letters. We couldn’t do strong, bold letters because it would be, like, out to here . . . . The whole reason why we even picked that name in the first place was that when we started, Barneys had just bought our collection and we didn’t have a name. We thought, Hernandez McCollough? Doesn’t sound so high end, does it?» Hernandez adds, «Proenza Schouler is better.»

If you want to read the whole interview, you find it her.

Winterholidays on an isle just outside Stavanger – part 2

We went to the city on Monday and Tuesday.

I love this street with houses painted in these amazing cute colors – each shop and cafeteria with their own unique style.

The old tree reflecting in the water…

Outside the cathedral (?)..

Since this actually is supposed to be a blog about bags I’ll post these modeling pics with the PS11. Some of you have asked about the modeling pictures and some of you are probably getting sick and tired of the bag…. But this was the only bag I took with me on the trip so this is what you get 🙂

With love….

Winterholidays on an isle just outside Stavanger – part 1

Ready – Steady – Go!

Traveling with a little child and her backpack – one suitcase and one bag was enough to handle so the PS11 was the only one this time..

At the airport they have quite a few nice Mulberry bags and I took a couple of snapshots…

This is a picture from the only day with sunshine;

The boat trip to and from the isle was something new and exiting!

This is what the weather was the rest of the week – but the scenery is so beautiful, the temperature so nice and the company so perfect that it didn’t matter!

Look at this!

Shellac Manicure and Proenza Schouler PS11

The Shellac I’ve used here is the new Dark Lava Stormy Raisin –  except on the ringfingers where I used Masquerade with Silver VIP sheer diamond effect and swarovski diamonds.

I’m ready for the winter holidays 🙂

Chiara Ferragni from the Blonde Salad with «my» Proenza Schouler PS11 :-D

Just had to show you the pictures of the beautiful blogger Chiara Ferragni posing with her PS11…

I’ve written about her before – she lives an amazing life with her boyfriend, Richie, traveling from one fashion event to another. Getting bags, clothes and asseccories delivered on her doorstep as the designers know – that everything she wears – thousands of other fashionistas out there will want to wear the same….

Have a look at her fantastic blog:

I just realized that The Blonde Salad has won the price for Blogger Business of The Year!

In the blogger world it certainly is allowed to mix business with pleasure!!

I love it – period!

Ooops – I did it again… This time with Proenza Schouler PS11!!

I’ve been writing a few posts about the fantastic, sophisticated, –  yet edgy PS11.

The Hermes Constance and the Celine Classic box has also been on the wish list  – but….

Hermes Constance in Lizard

Celine Classic Box

I’ve been thinking, researching and dreaming before I finally came to the decision that the PS11 suits my wallet and my lifestyle a lot better than the Constance and the Classic Box.

After trying to track down aPS11 in Norway, which seems to be impossible… I was lurking around at the official site of Proenza Schouler. And that was when I realized that they ship international!!

Well the rest is history – the Proenza Schouler PS11 Classic is now on it’s way to it’s new home ❤ ❤

Now I have started the job of selling 2-3 of my «old» bags to justify this insane purchase… As I’ve promised both myself and my fiancee that when a new bag is coming in another has to go….

It’s ok though – my goal for 2012 is to just have left one of each style that I «need» for everyday life 🙂
